Stanley Martin Lieber, popularly known as Stan Lee, died early Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 95.

His fans, supporters, directors, co-comic book artists, and actors who played the role of the famous superheroes he wrote paid tribute to this amazing and visionary man.

Lee gave life to characters whom did not just inspire people to be a better version of themselves, but alas, to excel ever upward – Excelsior!

Though he’s gone in our world and no Time stone could bring him back, Lee left a legacy that would only live forever within all of us who was inspired by his work.

Here are a few characters Lee created and co-wrote that depicts animals as superheroes:

Redwing

Stan Lee created Redwing with Gene Colan in 1969 as the loyal companion of the Falcon and as a symbol of justice.

Redwing can be controlled by the Falcon through his mind and also serves as the Falcon’s eyes in times of trouble.

He first appeared in Captain America #117, but did not made it into the movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Zabu

This sabretooth tiger is the only one in the Marvel Universe and has been helping Ka-Zar keep the Savage Land safe and protected.

In the comics, which Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created, Zabu has fought against the biggest dinosaurs and clawed his way to victory.

He first appeared in X-Men #10 in 1965.

Lockjaw

This giant bulldog has fork on his head and can teleport anywhere he likes! And just like any man’s best friend, Lockjaw remains loyal to Crystal and the Inhuman Royal Family.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created Lockjaw in 1965 on the Fantastic Four #45.
