Step into a world filled with wonder, fascination, and a touch of adventure! The recently concluded Reptile X6 that took place at Ayala Malls Manila Bay showcased exotic animals while providing interactive activities and educational talks. Indeed, the convention was a celebration of the beauty and diversity of exotic animals, as well as a reminder of the legal aspects of caring for them.

Let’s dive into the moments that made this a truly remarkable gathering.

AWE-INSPIRING EXHIBITS

The convention floor had an incredible variety of animals. Every booth was a mini-ecosystem that sheltered cold-blooded creatures like Snakes, Leopard Geckos, and Frogs, to the more cuddly creatures like Cats, Hamsters, Rabbits, Sugar Gliders, and even a Bamboo Rat.

Experts shared facts and stories about them as those who came enjoyed the sensory feast, with the vibrant colors of the Lizards, the intricate patterns of Pythons, and the ancient charm of Tortoises.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

One highlight was the opportunity to interact with the animals. A designated “touch and learn” area had certain booths where visitors could hold and observe some of the animals, under the guidance of expert handlers.

The gentle slither of a Corn Snake and the delicate scales of a Bearded Dragon gave people an up-close experience that deepened their connection with these creatures. Children and adults alike were thrilled to interact with these often misunderstood beings.

OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN

The convention prioritized education with a series of informative videos and talks. The exotic animal community shed light on topics about animal care and the importance of Reptile conservation.

There were presentations about the behavior of different species and even environmental conservation efforts. Conservation awareness has been one of the main goals of the organization since its inception.

PRODUCTS GALORE

Reptile X6 exhibitors offered a wide range of products for those taking care of animals at home. Q-Mark Pet Products displayed some of their brands, such as Zoo Med, ReptiZoo, SERA, and Hikari. They also collaborated with farms like Gamma Exotic Hub, Full Scale, CNC Farm, and SLED, all of which came with an assortment of Reptiles.

There were booths filled with terrariums, heat lamps, UVB lighting fixtures, and a variety of bedding options for Reptiles. Experts were available to give advice on choosing products for different species.

ALL ABOVE BOARD

Permits were necessary for the different animals to be present, in compliance with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). They had a designated area to answer all the inquiries of guests who might want to know more about specific procedures related to the law.

MORE SCALES THAN SCARES

Reptile X6 left visitors with memories to cherish and a newfound appreciation for all the scaly creatures they encountered. Perhaps there was a deeper understanding of exotic animals they used to fear; perhaps there was an added thrill in getting to know creatures who were otherwise intimidating.

One thing’s for sure: It’s going to be a yearly gathering where those who come can either spoil the Reptiles already living with them, or end up with the realization that these cold-blooded animals have more scales than scares in them.
