The Palawan Talking Mynah (Gracula Religiosa Palawensis) originated in Palawan. Because of its ability to cross mountains and hills, it has also been called as the Palawan Hill Mynah by locals. This bird is very unique and entertaining as it could mimic three to 15 different sounds.

The municipality of Rizal recently declared the Talking Mynah as its flagship species through an ordinance filed by Sangguniang Bayan member Arvin Fuentes, according to a report by Palawan Daily News. It has since then been approved by the Sangguniang Bayan last December 23, 2019.

The Palawan Hill Mynah Ordinance with No. 2019-015 aims to promote awareness on the conservation and preservation of the species.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and Palawan Council for Sustainable Development also plan to enforce strict laws against illegal poaching and trading of the bird as several of these birds were captured and sold in the markets.
