Princess was one of the 43 horses rescued by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) from the Taal volcanic eruption. Yesterday, January 23, she passed away.
In a Facebook post by PAWS, they shared that Princess was one of the horses abandoned on the Taal Volcano Island after the eruption, as their owners were forced to evacuate. PAWS rescued her and the others in partnership with the Lipa City Veterinarian.
“She survived five (5) days without food or potable water and a 50-kilometer boat from Taal Volcano Island to Balete,” PAWS wrote on the post.
However, Princess’ health failed to improve as she suffered from severe respiratory problems and pneumonia.
The organization continues to ask for donations to save more animals affected by the volcano eruption.
