It was held at Track 30th, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, Metro Manila, over a thousand pet owners and animal aficionados alike of all creatures finned, furry, scaled, and feathered browsed through pet-related products, services, seminars, and demonstrations by experts in one convenient location. They saw the latest products and technology for happy and healthy pet care.
Pet Summit Philippines was the brainchild of organizers Karla Kangleon of All4PetsParty.com and Mae Domingo of Paws & Tails Grooming Salon and Boutique. Kangleon explained, “We wanted to create an event that catered to all kinds of pets, to provide a place for pet owners to find all types of unique pet products and services.”
Exhibitors included the distributors of the biggest brands of pet food; trainers; Philippine Canine Club, Inc. (PCCI ) membership and micro-chipping; veterinarians such as vet clinic Beterinaryo sa Fort (the partner of Royal Canin) offering consultations; pet gear, bakeries, and couture; animal welfare organizations; and pet groups featuring exotic creatures, dogs, and cats.
Two- and four-legged visitors alike enjoyed the pupcakes created by Pet Express that the humans seemed to enjoy more than their kitty and doggie friends. And many visitors got their first encounter with the many exotics on display. Thirty lucky guests also enjoyed the raffle.
Guests and those who wandered in were delighted to find not just products and services, but also information and education about animal welfare. The Cats of Manila booth, for one, offered qualified cat adopters free cat food to get their new relationships started.
Of this, Kangleon explains, “We also wanted to empower animal welfare, to inspire Filipinos to be compassionate and responsible pet owners, and to promote the adoption of homeless animals and support the efforts of local animal rescue organizations. Finally we wanted to provide assistance to pets in need through medical treatment, training, and education.” To this end, educational sessions on animal welfare, hamsters, canine agility, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, and various dog breeds were open all day, for free, to all interested participants.
Are there plans for an edition next year? “Yes, definitely,” says Kangleon. “Our exhibitors have expressed their interest in reserving slots for 2015.”
