The Biden family welcomes Willow to the White House,
the first Cat to reside there in two decades.
The last Cat to stay in the presidential residence was India, a black Cat cared for by President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, in 2001.
A BOND LIKE NO OTHER
According to the report by NPR, First Lady Spokesperson Michael LaRosa said that Willow gave a lasting impression on President Joe Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden , in 2020 during Joe’s presidential campaign.
Originally a farm Cat, Willow jumped onto the stage, interrupting the First Lady’s speech. LaRosa said, “Seeing their immediate bond, the farm owner knew that [the Cat] belonged to Jill Biden.”
Willow was named after her hometown of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
ALREADY PRESIDENTIAL
The two-year-old grey-and-white Cat seems to feel at home in the White House, based on the pictures the First Lady posted on her Twitter page on Friday.
The caption on her tweet says, “Meet Willow!” with two heart emojis. As of Saturday Jan. 29, it has been retweeted more than 7,000 times and has garnered almost 200,000 likes.
LaRosa said as well that Willow is “settling into the White House with her favorite toys, treats, and plenty of room to smell and explore.”
Apart from Willow, the First family also has a four-month-old German Shepherd named Commander.
