A photo of turtle looking like he’s giving the middle finger has won the Comedy Wildlife Photographer Awards this year.

Photographer Mark Fitzpatrick shot the photo of “grumpy turtle Terry,” and has bested around 7,000 entries from all over the world. He was swimming with the turtles off Lady Elliot Island in Queensland, Australia when he captured the award-winning image. Terry was actually pulling back his flipper as Fitzpatrick took the photo, where he looked like he was flipping the bird instead.

“A huge thank you to the Comedy Wildlife Photographer Awards. I’m stoked and honored to be awarded the Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year for 2020,” Fitzpatrick said. “Hopefully Terry the Turtle can encourage more people to take a moment and think about how much our incredible wildlife depend on us and what we can do to help them. Flippers crossed that this award puts Terry in a better mood the next time I see him at Lady Elliot Island!”

He wins a safari in the Masai Mara in Kenya with Alex Walker’s Serian, a uniqe handmade trophy from the Wonder Workshop in Tanzania, a photography bag from Think Tank and a brand new Nikon camera.
