After 34 dogs have been rescued from China’s meat trade last week, another 45 were flown from China to the United States.
No Dogs Left Behind, which has a shelter based in Beijing, has been rescuing dogs from China’s cruel meat trade and find them their furever homes in the United States since their founding in 2016.
Last Friday evening, the organization brought 34 dogs to the United States and were united with their new owners. Another 45 dogs arrived via JFK and went home to their new families on Saturday, according to a report by The New York Post.
No Dogs Left Behind plans to bring a total of 135 dogs to the United States by the early part of 2021.
Jeff Beri founded the organization and saved thousands of dogs with his team since 2017.
“This by far is the largest transport that we have done,” he said. “These dogs… are my heroes, the adopters are my heroes who’ve waited for their dogs for almost a year now and every dog that walks the streets is an ambassador for the cruelty-free movement that we’re fighting for.”
Oftentimes, the organization works in darkness to save dogs from harm. They usually confront the illegal traffickers upfront and threaten them to turn them into Chinese authorities where they could face hefty fines.
