A retired nurse has been helping abandoned senior dogs gets the love and care they deserve.

Nicole Coyle is a retired nurse and worked in dog rescue before. Recently, she established The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice to care for abandoned old, terminally ill, or stray dogs. She runs the shelter from her own home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

What’s different about the hospice is that Coyle makes sure every dog she takes in completes a “bucket list,” which includes eating ice creams on the beach, and having birthday parties with the other doggos.

“I don’t know when their birthdays are so we throw all of them a birthday party,” she said. “They just want to feel loved and safe. I really believe they should get a nice ending.”

Coyle spends up to £500 ($664.20) per dog from her own pocket. Sometimes, she hosts fundraising events for the dogs, and all of those funds have been spent giving the dogs the best days they could possibly imagine, like more ice cream or even a slice of steak!
