Reports of Mali the Elephant’s death surface on Tuesday late afternoon, confirmed hours later by Manila Mayor Honey in a video uploaded to the Facebook page of the Manila Public Information Office.
“Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila ay malungkot na ibinabahagi ang pagkamatay ng ating minamahal na si Vishwa Ma’ali, mas kilalang Maali, ngayong araw, ika-28 ng Nobyembre (The City Government of Manila is saddened to share the passing of our beloved Vishwa Ma’ali, better known as Maali, today, November 28),” the caption says.
A necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of Mali’s death.
