Dogs and other pets are often terrified of fireworks, because of its thunderous sound and chemical-burning smell.

Luckily, Ford has created a doghouse that could help keep dogs and other pets calm during thunderstorms and fireworks on New Year’s Day.

Ford Europe has applied their noise-cancelling equipments to build a doghouse that will not allow loud noises, like fireworks, to stress them out or disturb them in any way.

“An estimated 45 percent of dogs in the UK show signs of fear when they hear fireworks – causing distress to owners and their families too. One possible answer could be a noise-cancelling kennel that uses similar technology to that found in cars and headphones to protect sensitive canine ears and ensure owners to not have to banish their pets away from the rest of the family,” said the company in a post.

According to Engadget, the kennel is equipped with the same technology as Ford’s Edge SUV, which could detect explosion with microphones and counters this by the use of opposing sound waves. The doghouse has a noise-dampening technology built on its walls and includes an automatic door for an added protection from other noises.

The kennel is still a prototype for now and the first of Ford’s initiatives, which is called “Interventions.”
