A dog saved a newborn baby who was allegedly buried alive by its mother in northern Thailand.

The baby boy is said to have been abandoned and buried alive by its 15-year old mother to hide her pregnancy from her parents.

Luckily, Ping Pong the dog started barking and digging in a field in Ban Nong Kham village. The dog’s owner said he noticed a baby’s leg sticking out of the earth. They immediately came to the dog’s rescue and rushed the baby to a nearby hospital.

The doctors cleaned the baby and declared him healthy.

Meanwhile, the baby’s mother has been charged with child abandonment and attempted mother. An officer from Chum Phuang police station, Panuwat Puttakam, told the Bangkok Post that the mother is now in the care of her parents and is under observation from a psychologist.

The baby will be care for by his grandparents.

Meanwhile, the dog’s owner shared the story of his animal companion to Khaosod Newspaper. Apparently, Ping Pong lose the use of one of his legs when he was hit by a car.

“I kept him, because he’s so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go to the fields to tend to my cattle. He’s loved by the entire village. It’s amazing,” he said.
