After two long weeks of searching for a dog that escaped from a wrecked car, Jax , the Rottweiler-boxer mix, has been reunited with his human, who was the driver that had been injured in the crash.
Jax had been missing since his owner, Gabrielle Mcmillan, lost control of her car and accidentally struck a utility pole on Route 72 in Staffors Township near the Causeway Bridge last June 24. Her car rolled during the crash, but Jax managed to escape and ran away from the vehicle.
23-year-old Mcmillan was injured and had to be flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. She has since been at home, recovering from her injuries.
In an effort to find her animal companions, drones, trail cameras, and baited traps were set by animal control, but to no avail.
On Monday, Jax was finally captured along a trail on Cedar Bonnet Island and had been reunited with McMillan and her boyfriend, Steve Sheldon.
“I can finally mentally heal now that he is home with me,” McMillan said Tuesday, according to a report by Nj.com. “Jax is my absolute best friend and this whole ordeal was devastating. I’m just glad it had a happy ending.”
