There was a league especially for exotic and reptile enthusiasts in the Philippines.

The first Reptile X Basketball League was recently held at the YMCA Gym in Binondo, Manila, headed by Reptile X, a group for exotic pet lovers and enthusiasts.

Participants were the Bulacan Exotic Club (BuleXc), led by Commissioner Rodney John Dizon; the Philippine Stingray Club, led by Manny Bautista and Dexter Laguiab; Congo Charlie, led by founder Dr. Jaime ‘Jimi’ Lim (who was also an event sponsor) and University of Santo Tomas basketball coach Bong dela Cruz; and Boa Keepers Philippines, led by Jing Oliveros and Adrian Lim.

Two teams emerged victorious: Congo Charlie, which brought down BuleXc, and the Stingray Club of the Philippines, which defeated the Boa Keepers.

Co-founder Andre Santos, vice mayor of Marilao, Bulacan and one of the event’s major sponsors, explained that the event was aimed at encouraging members of the various organizations to intensify their passion for taking care of “the neglected but natural inhabitants of the wild.” Commissioner Dizon added that the event also served as a fitness program for its members and as a venue for the members of various organizations to bond with each other.
