A video shared on Facebook by user Baldawgs, whose real name is Vhal A. Sardia, went viral after it showed him getting fired from his job of five years because he fed a community Dog.
Fired without warning
In the caption, he thanked his place of employment. He explained that when his supervisor saw a video of him feeding an Aspin, it led to his termination.
He said, “Hindi ko po kase napigilan na sila ay bigyan ng pagkain kaya’t madalas ang ginagawa ko ang pagpapakain sa kanila off duty or breaktime ko. (I couldn’t stop giving them food, so I often feed them off duty or during my breaktime.)”
Netizens react
While most of the comments supported Sardia, some saw logic in his termination. One comment read, “. . . Sanitation and food safety are important in all food industries.” Other comments went on to say that some customers might have allergies to pet dander.
Some netizens also suggested that it might have been less trouble for Sardia to have fed the animals after his shift as that would have prevented any concerns about food contamination.
Sardia said he will continue supporting community Dogs and Cats.
